| About the Chef | ||
| Amy Weldon is a private chef, cookbook author, restauranteur, food stylist and consultant.
Amy began in the food world at age thirteen as a pasta maker in New Jersey. What began as a means to finance her private school education, soon flourished into a career. At fifteen, Amy served as sous chef in a three star restaurant in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. After completing high school, Amy took a job as a private chef, spending a year and a half in England. On return to the states, Amy studied at the Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, New York. Subsequent experiences have included starting her own cafe in New Mexico, and working as a Chef in many great restaurants around the country. Amy has also devoted her time and talents to many worthy non-profit organizations. Among them, she served as chef in the modified meals program at Gods Love We Deliver in New York City, an organization dedicated to providing specialized meals to home-bound AIDS patients. In addition, she helped redesign the meals program at New Jerseys Deveraux Foundation, a group home for physically and emotionally abused young women. Amy then spent several years in Los angeles where she served as private chef to many well known figures in the entertainment industry. In 2000, Amy moved to Holland where she and Matti Baars successfully ran the restaurant "TASTE" for four years. The restaurant has since been sold and Amy is working, worldwide, providing freelance private chef services and working on various other culinary projects. Amy is currently based out of Europe, and spends several months a year in the United States. |
